Headquartered in Embakasi, Nairobi, Kenya Airways is the national airline of Kenya. The airline has its main hub at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport from where it operates scheduled flights to 53 destinations in 41 countries using a fleet of 40 aircraft. Kenya Airways has three subsidiaries: African Cargo Handling Limited, Jumbo Jet and Kenya Airfreight Handling Limited. Flying Blue, its frequent flyer program, allows regular passengers to earn and redeem flying points and access specific airport lounges.

The airline was founded in 1977 as a result of the dissolution of East African Airways. Kenya Airways commenced its flight operations on 4 February 1977 and underwent privatization in 1996. However, it went on to retain its status of Kenya's national airline and is currently co-owned by KQ Lenders Company, KLM and the Kenyan Government. It joined the African Airlines Association as early as 1977 and became a full member of SkyTeam global airline alliance in June 2010. It has codeshares with several airlines including Aeroflot, Air France, EgyptAir, KLM, Korean Air and Hong Kong Airlines.
